QB Josh Freeman wants another crack as Vikings' starter

One loss, brutal passing performance and concussion later, Freeman said Monday his opinion hasn't changed, and he wants to get back on the field Dri Archer 5XL Jersey sooner than later.

"I feel like I can go out and compete and give our team a chance to win," Freeman said. "This week, any week, I just want to prepare as well as I can and then ultimately go out and play well."

Christian Ponder returned Shaquille Richardson S Jersey to the lineup Sunday night and didn't exactly light it up in a loss to the Green Bay Packers, completing 14 of 21 passes for 145 yards and running for a touchdown in garbage time.

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said coaches were still discussing whether to start Ponder or Freeman, who was inactive Sunday because of the concussion, on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. The two are a combined 0 8 as starters this season.

Freeman, 25, started the first three games of the season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before his benching and subsequent release, then made his Vikings debut Oct. 21 against the New York Giants and finished 20 of 53 passing for 190 yards with an interception.

Cassel struggled in his next outing against the Carolina Panthers, sparking the switch to Freeman.

"I don't want to discount Matt, but Christian did some good things in that ballgame (Sunday)," Frazier said. "There was some things that he could obviously do better. But (Ponder) has led us to some wins in the past. Josh we brought him here to evaluate him and determine if he could be a guy that could be a potential player for us in the future."
